A year after redefining mutual funds with the path-breaking IDFC Mutual Fund website, the fund house now wished to take the "Simple and Effective" strategy to the social space. The aim was to reach out to potential savers and investors, and be a part of their everyday conversations.
Bound by numerous industry regulations, it is often a challenge for financial institutions to venture into social media. The need of the hour was to be relevant to the everyday Facebook user. Nobody wants to see drab financial content, least of all on their Facebook newsfeed.
Deriving inspiration from the “Simple and Effective" strategy that helped the IDFC website revolutionize the mutual fund industry a year before, we once again decided to do the opposite of what everybody is doing. Instead of posting insipid quotes, irrelevant news and intrusive promotions, we set out to actually make a difference in the customer’s life!
We thus embarked on ‘Simple on Social’ - with fun, engaging and practical tips that simplified saving, spending and investment. Coupled with delightful illustrations and infographics in IDFC’s trademark style, our tips, tricks and advice were not just restricted to mutual funds, but encompassed everything from stocks, retirement, shopping, home-buying, alternative investments to useful mobile apps!
Displaying a thorough understanding of what works in the context of Facebook, IDFC Mutual Fund was able to beautifully translate the brand philosophy of simplification on the social space. Through ‘Simple on Social’, it created a solid platform to drive awareness and behavioral change, creating potential investors!
