 Taj Hotels begins race towards Search Engine Optimization

Coinciding with the launch of redesigned website Taj Hotels appointed Indigo Consulting to power its website to ensure top rankings on major search engines.

On the Internet, travel is a very competitive category with over 5 million results on searches using most major keywords related to travel. In this context, the challenge is to optimise the site, as well as ensure effective submissions and constant monitoring.

While the process of search engine optimization for Taj Hotels started with identifying the business objective of leading more visitors to the website, a parallel process of listing down keywords (based on strategic inputs and research analysis done by the Indigo team) was initiated and thereafter, page level optimizations were carried out. This involved seamless coordination with Taj Hotels' web development agency to ensure that the basic design and user experience of the site are not impacted by the optimization changes. At all stages in the development process, the cycle was kept iterative, so client inputs were taken cognizance of, at all stages. Further on, refinement of existing pages, enforcement of compliance rules and deriving link popularity was undertaken.

Currently the project is in the process of site optimization and submission. Results are expected towards end of the year.
