A special kind of ‘project’…

Apart from our daily projects and tasks, we do take time off to stop, think, appreciate and share….This is when we remind ourselves to count our blessings and give back in some way or the other. In the past, we have participated and been involved in a number of selfless causes and activities. This time we chose to contribute towards the National Rural Research and Development Association’s (NARAD) Water Harvesting Project in Dongarpada, a remote village over 100km from Mumbai.

The wells in Dongarpada which act as the only source of water for its villagers, used to face continuous leakage due to the collapse of their inner & outer plastering. These wells would eventually run dry between the months of April and June, forcing villagers to walk up to 10kms to Ramkhind, the next nearest village.

Indigo Consulting together with other helping hands helped fund the grant required for the repairs of existing wells. Now, a walk to the nearest well is reduced to just 200 meters, with villagers not having to fear them running dry again after the monsoons. This is a first for the people of Dongarpada since the last 40 years. A new well has also been constructed and is in use now at Tilonda village.
