Sunday, the 20th of Jan 08 saw Indigo Consulting debut at the Mumbai Marathon. A handful of us, descended on Azad Maidan at 8, braving the winter chill (we mumbaiites are allowed to call 14deg C a winter chill, OK?). Of course, by the time we starting running (around 930) it was well above that, but what a party. I have never seen so many people out on the street to just walk/run – no ganpati to bid farewell to, no new years to drink to – just walk. The entire 6KM Dream Run route was choc-a-bloc with the spirit of Mumbai.

From celebs, to SoBo pseuds, to Bandra boys and gals, to the suburban middle class – everyone dropped their unique identities and participated as one Mumbai.

True to form, Team Indigo completed the course in good time, with some of us ready to sign-up for the half marathon next year. More importantly though, many more of us will be part of the Marathon next year, that’s for sure.
