On 15th August, India celebrated Independence Day.
And on 16th August the good people at Indigo Consulting, decided to get into the spirit of Independence Day. Starting off with being specially dressed for the occasions in stylish, Indian clothes – the personalities dazzled in their wooo-hooo outfits.
the storm breweth
The best however was yet to come. In the evening, after work – the Indigo-ers took Adhyaru (the office building) by storm. Vocal chords ripped through the building as strains of patriotic songs echoed off the walls. A guitar was being tuned and strummed, voices rose in pitch and swooned down into the depths of bass.
Well dressed people strutted along the corridors and hummed tunes which were to be heard soon in 126, Adhyaru. And amidst all this strutting, strumming, tuning, humming – the news of the competition spread.
a battle royale
The computers were shut down, the mobile phones switched off and attention focused. And the group singing, with four groups participating – headed by Anisha, Stanley, Devang and Satyajit – began. And what a fight it was…fought it out in front of an audience who were rocking and rolling to the beats of hands on tables and the melody of a acoustic guitar.
Melodies hit the peak, voices reached their crecendo, the tables shook, the hands clapped and the vocal chords hit the highs and the lows. The teams came, they sang and partied like hell…and then, they went. And world dissolved into thunderous applause.
the eye of the storm
Next came the Solo singing. Last minute adjustments, song selections and participation ensured high levels of enthusiasm amongst the motley crowd. Enthusiasts cheered and roared, feet tapped the ground, eyes blazed, whistles sounded across the office and talent shone like flawlessly cut diamonds in the desert under a merciless sun.
Singing and dancing was the order of the day. Today, there were no winners or losers. Today was freedom of expression – expressed to its fullest. Today was post-independence day.
Winners were declared the day after. But that’s another post.
